Video from the Dec. 11, 2019, Taliban attack against Bagram Airfield appears to show a triple US airstrike on an insurgent-held building in the vicinity of the base.
The Taliban insurgents reportedly attempted to breach the base perimeter with an SVBIED and followed the explosion with a ground assault. Several of the Taliban fighters took up positions within a building that was previously a medical facility manned by Korean troops, but had been abandoned around 2015.
According to a US military spokesman, the building was being renovated to be used as hospital for the local population, but took significant damage during the SVBIED blast and following airstrikes to dislodge the insurgents.
At least two civilians were killed, and an additional 70 were wounded in the initial blast and ensuing 10-hour battle.
