Six years ago I was flying over the pond, across the open sky with my DJI PHANTOM VISION 2 quad-copter / drone. I was shocked to see it lose signal over my backyard "pond", (mini-lake), and to my horror I watched it plunge from 50 feet out of the air, and swallowed up by the pond. For years I told the story of "Phantom Lake" to anyone who would give me a chance to tell them.
"If you turn your head "just right", on a clear day.. you can still hear the props in the water.. blub blub blub".... For 2 Years I have been searching this "Fishless"pond..with an underwater camera drone called the FiFish V6 (https://amzn.to/3dxqaF6) and more recently the Power Dolphin ( https://amzn.to/2Moib0Q).
Today I was equipped with my Qysea 4K camera submarine and had the ULTIMATE Underwater adventure! I attached my GoPro Hero 7 camera with AMAZING stability control (https://amzn.to/3eJcebe) to the sub in addition to the onboard cam already installed. I like to get wider views for our viewers - as well as being able to see more when editing. Not only did I complete my mission to find this lost drone, but i also discovered 2 LARGE fish in the pond.
One of them is clearly pregnant with a big belly of fish eggs.. and I swim along with them momentarily, wondering if these "Lucky Fish" will lead me to my downed drone. The fish took me through the "Worm Hole" (Earth Worm Jims final resting place), and I was lucky enough to make it out, unscathed through to the other side. What was waiting for me was a discovery that would make me jump for joy.!
Today, I can finally say.. that our search is over.
Now the recovery effort begins!
